Wild Weekend in College Football

The college football world experienced some tremendous excitement this past weekend. There were huge upsets, big blowouts, and high scoring offensive shootouts all over the country. Entering the 9th week of the season, there is a pretty good idea of the few teams that have a strong chance of contending for the national title. In my personal opinion, I think that the national championship will most likely be played between Alabama, Oregon, and Florida State. Outside of the top 3, the top 25 continues to get more and more interesting and the BCS bowl games could be played by a plethora of different teams.

Some phenomenal games were played this past weekend. Six of the top 11thranked teams were taken down. Alabama skunked Arkansas 52-0. Oregon continued its streak defeating Washington State 62-38. Florida State crushed Clemson 51-14. Ole Miss and LSU had an exciting matchup with Ole Miss winning 27-24. Auburn outlasted Texas A&M 45-41. Tennessee defeated the Gamecocks 23-21. The tigers of Missouri took down the Gators 36-17 and unfortunately Vandy continued to beat up the bulldogs beating them 31-27. After all of the final results, previously ranked number 15 Georgia, 20 Washington, and 22 Florida all dropped out of the AP Top 25. Missouri jumped up to 5th in the rankings, Auburn moved to 11th, Clemson dropped to number 9, and the top 4 consists of 1 Alabama, 2 Oregon, 3 Florida State, and 4 Ohio State.LSU UM

There are still a good number of teams that have great opportunities ahead of them. Some considerable teams that are still undefeated are Missouri, Ohio State, Miami, and Texas Tech. If some huge upsets happen to the top 3 teams in the upcoming weeks, these four teams could continue to slide up to the top of the rankings with continuing their good play. Also, Stanford, Clemson, and Auburn are some powerful 1-loss teams that could also make things interesting in the upcoming weeks.FSU Clemson This college football season has been a good one so far. Alabama has continued their annual streak of being an absolute powerhouse and Oregon continues to dominate the west coast with their fascinating offense. Georgia has gotten beat down with the injuries of many key players. The bulldogs have gone from being a possible national title contender to getting dropped all the way out of the top 25. The paths of many teams have been altered so far this season but hey, that’s what makes college football interesting and exciting.
